With more than 30 years experience in loss control, safety engineering, disaster recovery planning, and industrial hygiene, Mr. Benoy joined Brown & Brown of Texas, Inc. in 2001 as Loss Control Executive. Previously he held positions with several prominent insurance companies over his distinguished career including serving as Vice President of Loss Control with Casualty Insurance Company, Senior Loss Control Representative with The Hartford Insurance Company, and Loss Prevention Consultant with Texas Mutual Insurance Company.

Most insurance companies have scaled back or eliminated their safety engineering and loss prevention services. Typically, most now use their loss control staff simply as an inspection service designed to cull or eliminate those companies deemed “undesirable” from consideration for insurance. Using his vast experience as a former insurance company safety inspector and engineer, Mr. Benoy is skilled at helping Brown & Brown’s clients improve their facilities and operations well in advance of insurance company inspections. This results in safer operations, reduced incurred losses, and simply makes our clients more attractive to potential insurers. This of course, leads to more aggressive pricing between insurance companies competing for our client’s insurance coverage. While most insurance companies have reduced the amount of free loss control service provided to their clients during the policy year, Mr. Benoy has been instrumental in actually getting insurance companies to provide our clients with a great deal of free service included with their premiums. In addition, he also personally supplements and provides whatever loss control services may be needed by our clients.

Mr. Benoy holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science from San Antonio College, is a graduate of the Safety Officer’s Course International at the Center For Safety at Arizona State University, is also a graduate of the Laser Safety Course at Colorado State University and is a certified Field Safety Representative (FSR) from the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. He is a certified forklift operator instructor, a defensive driving instructor, approved as professional safety source by the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission, holds his certification as a Back Injury Prevention Specialist and HAZWOPER hazardous materials and waste handling, management and disposal specialist. Mr. Benoy has completed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Construction Industry Course as well as the Mechanical Power Press Safety Course.
