General Information

We represent your company.

Brown & Brown is one of the ten largest insurance brokers in the world yet one of the very few that actually concentrates upon serving medium sized U.S. businesses. As one of the nation's leading insurance brokers, we provide your business with the essential services and money saving resources most big brokers reserve exclusively for their largest clients and that most agents simply can't afford to provide. Unlike other large brokers, our highly decentralized structure ensures your company receives responsive and attentive service from local skilled professionals who are dedicated to your account.

At Brown & Brown, we represent your interests and serve as your company's advocate to obtain the best pricing and coverage available in the broad insurance company marketplace. We always represent our clients in the insurance company selection process and serve as their advocate during and after the sale.

Why choose Brown & Brown?

Because of our size and scale we have access to virtually every insurance company doing business in North America . Since our clients pay these insurance companies more than 7 billion dollars in premiums each year, we have the clout to negotiate with many different insurance companies so that you obtain the most competitive premiums and the best coverage available. While most agents will offer you just one quote (or at best just a few choices), we help you see all your options. Only then can we help you understand and select those choices that are best for your company.

An Individualized Approach.

As the costs of Employee Benefits programs continue to rise, employers like you are faced with numerous challenges. Passing cost increases on to employees reduces your ability to attract and retain qualified people, but absorbing the increases makes it difficult to maintain profitability. Employee Benefits represent a significant and increasing component of overall expenses and this is why human resource and finance professionals look to Brown & Brown for customized solutions.

Brown & Brown uses a unique process that allows us to evaluate the cost and design of your benefit program. This data provides us the ability to identify the cost drivers and measure the efficiencies of your plan. Prior to making any plan changes or accepting any cost increases, you need to know what is happening, why it is happening, and what can be done about it. With this information and an understanding of your company's objectives, we design and implement plans that balance costs and benefits, stabilize premiums and which are attractive to employees.

Many companies make changes to their medical plan each year in order to save premiums. However, many times these changes are done to the detriment of employees with very little impact to the overall cost of the program. We find that most insurance agents and companies are too quick to propose raising deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket maximums as ways to lower premium costs, especially since this frequently leads to a backlash with employees. These moves often don't even produce the intended savings. Our strategy is to help you determine which benefit changes will have the most impact on the premium with the LEAST amount of negative impact to your employees.

In order for your employees to utilize their benefits properly, they must understand the plan. Brown & Brown's highly trained staff conducts annual employee meetings to explain all the benefits being offered by your company. In addition to explaining the benefits, we also provide "hidden paycheck" statements that will clearly illustrate how much money the company pays for the benefits on the employee's behalf. Once the employee is aware of the value of their benefit package, they may be less inclined to change jobs for a slightly higher wage if the benefits are not comparable.

Employee Input is Valuable.

Employers and employees are spending an ever increasing amount for their benefit plans. To help you evaluate if your employees are happy with the current program and determine which benefits are most important to them and their families, we have developed an employee survey to distribute prior to renewal. This gives the employee the opportunity to rate their current benefit offerings and provide input on the plans selected. It also helps the employer to identify which benefit plans are deemed most valuable by employees, which produce the highest employee satisfaction and those benefits that may not be worth continuing to fund.

Each of our clients is assigned a dedicated account manager. This person is available to the employer to assist with benefit questions, billing problems or any other service related issue. Our account managers are also available to assist your employees with any claim issues that they are unable to resolve directly with the insurance carrier. This keeps the employer from being involved in their employee's personal health situations.

We hunt down your options, saving you money and time.

At Brown & Brown, our mascot is the cheetah. The cheetah is the fastest and most adaptive land animal on earth. It knows it must compete to win and succeed at the hunt if it wants to eat. In everything we do, we strive to be like the cheetah; quick and agile at adapting to meet our customer's needs.

Let us do the benefit plan hunting for you.
